2B-Blue. Boosting the Blue Biotechnology Community in the Mediterranean
The Blue Biotechnology (BBt) sector has significant potential to positively influence the environment, human well-being and economic growth, however, in the Mediterranean basin, it is still in its infancy.
The 2B-Blue project aims to capitalize on the positive results obtained by B-Blue in four main areas:
The Blue Biotechnology (BBt) sector has significant potential to positively influence the environment, human well-being and economic growth, however, in the Mediterranean basin, it is still in its infancy.
The B-Blue project established a preliminary network of key actors in the field of BBt and conducted an in-depth analysis on best practices, drivers, barriers and requirements for EuroMed companies to adopt blue biotechnologies. This study has identified the most promising value chains for the EuroMed area.
As a result, 5 interactive Blue Biotechnology Hubs (BHHs) have been established to facilitate collaboration, knowledge transfer and synergistic impacts to stimulate innovation and business in the marine biotechnology sector.
In addition, a digital community has been developed using an ICT tool called B-Blue MatchMaking Tool to support new collaborative initiatives. The MedIA – Mediterranean Innovation Alliance for Sustainable BlueBioeconomy was also established in collaboration with Blue Bio Med and two specific collaborative working groups on BBt.
Next Thursday, November 28th, the University of Murcia will present the first T-Lab in Spain in an event organized in collaboration with the Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar.
